Parquet, a decorative element steeped in history. Wood has always been very useful to humans. People quickly understood this, and wood became the preferred flooring in many homes. From the 17th century onward, parquet became a distinct element in interior decoration.
In 1683, in the most famous castle in France, if not the world, one element would particularly capture attention. The parquet of the Palace of Versailles became famous. Crafted by great artisans, the Versailles parquet even became a pattern for installation. Today, we still refer to it as “Versailles parquet.” The floor transformed into a decorative element, and the term “parquet” was born.
