In general, engineered wood flooring is a type of flooring composed of three layers. Most often, for the top layer of the engineered wood, also called the wear layer, noble woods such as oak, walnut, or beech are used. The quality and thickness of the wear layer largely determine the lifespan of the floor. In terms of composition, the second layer (also called the intermediate or central core) comes next, and finally, there is the back layer, known as the backing.
